Reader's Warehouse is a local, independent discount book warehouse based in Tokai, Cape Town, Kolonnade Retail Park in Pretoria and Broadacres Lifestyle Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The first store opened its doors in October 2008. The bookstore used to be based in Kloof street, in the CBD of Cape Town, called Reader's Paradise. The Pretoria store opened in May 2009 and our Johannesburg store opened in February 2010.
We are pleased to be able to offer our customers literally thousands of interesting and irresistibly-priced titles in a pleasantly relaxing environment.
The cornerstone of our selection and value is our exceptional selection of "bargain books" - remainders, publishers' overstocks, reprints, hurt (slightly damaged) books, samples, bankruptcy stock, and special imports. These books represent well over 80% of our inventory and present our customers with our most interesting titles and our greatest bargains.

Book Range Available From Us
We stock a large selection of books, which include paperback novels, general books, children books, travel, audio books, romance, sport titles, historical, holistic and self help, music books and much more.
We have a large children area filled with books for new born children, young reader's and teenagers.
A growing range of esoteric books are available from us, which include books on philosophy, religion, alternative spirituality, myths and mythology.
Other books the bookstore carries are travel, tourist guides and maps, including the very popular Lonely Planet series, street guides and postcards.
The bookstore has also a great range of local authors fiction and non fiction novels and books.

Things To View In Store
The store has become well known with visitors with our 250 + inscribed author photographs framed up in the store. Every time a customer visits our store, the bookstore gives the visitor the opportunity to see and read messages from their favourite authors.
Some of the authors include Michael Bond - creator of Paddington Bear, fantasy authors Terry Brookes and Juliet E Mckenna. Thriller and murder mystery authors Faye and Jonathan Kellerman, Lee Child, Clive Cussler and Michael Palmer.
Romance authors Barbara Taylor Bradford, Danielle Steel, Marian Keys and Susan Wiggs, TV celebrity chefs and authors Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Gordon Ramsay and Gary Rhodes.
The store also has inscribed framed photographs from many local authors such as Stephen Francis and Rico creators of the cartoon book series Madam and Eve, Deon Meyer, Troy Blacklaw, John van de Ruit, Tom Eaton and Wilbur Smith.
We also have a fantastic children area upstairs. We have decorated our children area to encourage children young and old to read. We also have a reading area upstairs for children to pick some books and see what they are all about.
Future plans for the warehouse includes building on its book clubs, being involved in more national and international book releases, author visits and events and continuing its main aim of offering the South African public a place where they can find some great reading material in a reader's paradise.
