The history of the antiapartheid movement brings up images of boycotts and public campaigns in the UK, but another story went on behind the scenes, in secret.

This is the story of the foreign volunteers and their activities in South Africa, how they acted in defiance of the apartheid government and its police on the instructions of the African National Congress (ANC). From the transportation of weapons to the passage of ANC fighters into South Africa, this account describes the many risks taken by the volunteers—many of whom were young communists, Trotskyists, or independent socialists who travelled from the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United States—to join the cause.

Once your parcel has been collected you will receive an email confirming that your order is on its way. This email includes your tracking number and a link to track your delivery progress on the relevant courier's website.

Branch Collection

In-store collection available within 5 to 10 working days

Once your order is complete and has arrived at your chosen Reader's Warehouse store one of our friendly book enthusiasts will be in touch.

Please take note that we will only hold your order for a period of 1 MONTH at your selected store.  If you haven't collected after 1 month it will be returned to head office and your account will be credited with the amount of your order. 

NB:  If you decide to have your order couriered to you after its been delivered to your chosen store for pick up,  you will be charged an additional courier fee.
